Step Up Day and Y6/7 Camp update 1…

Filed under: Daily Messages — Mr Pritchard @ 2:26 pm

Hi Everyone!

Here is the latest news from the Upper Junior School Today…

Step Up Day: All the children across the Primary school took part in ‘Step Up Day’. This was the chance to experience life in their new Year Group for the day! All the children had great fun, Our current Year 4’s went to Year 5 and our Year 5’s went to Year 6. Mrs Cairns, Miss Welsh and Miss Dillon had our current Year 3’s for a visit today and I am not sure who was more excited, the children or the staff!

I went to the Lower Junior School today to be with the Year 2 and 3 staff and to welcome the new Year 2 and 3 children there. I am sure they will also be full of stories following their visit today!

Thanks to all the Primary staff for working hard and supporting the children today. There were lots of happy. smiley faces at the end of another busy day!

Year 6/7 Camp Update: All the children left school this morning on their way to camp. There were lots of smiles as the children said goodbye to their parents and boarded the buses…

Today the Year 6 children have been RAFT BUILDING. This is a great team building activity and tests the groups ability to work togther. Will they be able to build a raft that doesn’t sink? We’ll have to wait and see!

The Year 7 children were taking part in a range of fun games and activities. There was SUMO WRESTLING, JOUSTING, and a BUNGEE RACE to get stuck into!

Tonight, the children will go for a boat trip on the canals and will then take a leisurely walk back.

More from the camp tomorrow… so watch this space!

Moving on up…

Good morning, Bloggers!

Hope that you all are rested after the film last night. Did you enjoy it? I thought the special effects, especially the 3D aspect was great. Had a bit of a tear in my eye at the beginning of the film and also heard a whimper from Mrs Cairns! Post a comment on the blog to give a short review of the film.

Parents, please remember that there is an important meeting tonight at 19:00 at the Fred. Roeskestraat where the Working Party will present the revised Articles of Association for the British School of Amsterdam. I hope that you all attend and support the development of our School.

Reminder that we have our Sports Day tomorrow and all Upper Junior children should come to school in the morning already dressed in their PE kit. Some children have also been selected for their diploma swim tomorrow afternoon. We have only received the list of names from the Mirandabad last night so please check your child’s bookbag or ask your child’s class teacher today if your child needs to bring clothes as part of their diploma swim test. All in all quite a sporty day!

Up, Up and away!

We’re off to be part of an invited audience to a screening of UP as part of Cinema Expo at the RAI this evening. Remember to all wear school uniform and return to school at 17:30. We will return to school for collection at approximately 20:45. Please be aware this event has been known to overrun in the past due to circumstances beyond our control. Mobile phones are naturally switched off during the screening and so we are obviously unable to contact anyone until we leave the RAI.

Remember we have been invited to see a special screening of the new Disney Pixar movie UP tomorrow evening. If you have signed up to attend, remember due to the change in time you must be collected from school at 15:50 and return at 17:30 ready for the coaches to depart at 17:45….if you’re late, we wont wait! Please remember that you all need to be in School uniform for easy identification of our group. Parent and teacher volunteers, thank you for giving your time to enable us to take up this invitation. Without your support we would be unable to enjoy the film.

Year 4/5 Camp 2009 Signing off!

**IMPORTANT - CAMP ARRIVAL TIME UPDATE 1**

Filed under: Daily Messages — Mr Pritchard @ 1:33 pm

Dear Parents,

Due to traffic delays on the A2 and the closure of part of the road earlier, the buses collecting the children did not arrive at the camp site until 2.30pm. The trip have now left on their return to Amsterdam, so we now have a new estimated arrival time back at school of 3.40pm.

***When you arrive to collect your child, please come into school and wait on the outdoor wooden seats or on the football pitch - once the coach arrives all the luggage will be off loaded first, the children will then be let off the bus one at a time and parents can collect them, pick up their luggage, and take them home***

YEAR 4/5 CAMP - Update 4…

Morning Campers! Rise and Shine…

“The sun is out, the sky is blue… etc”

It’s the last day of the Year 4/5 Camp… last night the team reported in to say that the children had enjoyed themselves yesterday. They went to the museum, tackled the nightline trail and went on a walk.

At the museum the children were able to spend a few of their hard earned pennies to buy a small gift or even a fossil! The day was dry and sunny and everyone had managed to top up their tans!

At the end of the day there was time for a quick shower and a quiet read before heading over to the dining hall for the ‘last supper’ of the camp! It was somewhat quieter than in previous nights… I wonder why???

Lots to eat and drink and then it was down to the main hall area for the evening’s entertainment - a disco and lots of dancing courtesy of DJ ARMOOGUM and DJ EDGHILL!

After all that fun 116 (including the staff!) sleepy heads went to bed for the last night… no midnight snacks tonight!

This morning they will be getting up and playing a few games together before it is time to tidy up the camp and say GOODBYE!

The campers are due to leave Zonnewende at 13.30 with an estimated arrival time back at the Upper School of 15.15. If there are any changes to this time, we will update this blog page…

We can’t wait to see you all back at school this afternoon! It has been a great experience for all the children and they all deserve a huge ‘welcome back’ on their return…

THREE SUPER CHEERS MUST GO TO: Mr Handisyde - Camp Leader, Mrs Cairns, Mr Armoogum, Mrs Miles, Mr Cooney, Mr Edghill, Mrs Tiggleovend, Miss Welsh, Miss Dillon, Miss Barklamb, Ms Joyce, Miss Oosterhuis, Ms Poel-Roosma and Ms Frietman for surviving the full five days and for doing such a super job looking after all the children! Well done everyone, and on behalf of the children… THANK YOU!!!
