We’ve made it to the end of our first term here at the Upper Junior School and what a wonderful and busy term it has been. We’ve enjoyed our new building, new playground and new field. We’ve thought about New Beginnings, Anti-Bullying and Getting On and Falling Out; Year 4 visited Archeon, Year 5 visited Space Expo and Year 6 visited the Allard Pierson Museum; we’ve had a visiting scientist, a jazz singer and an astronaut; Year 4 have entertained us with their version of Little Red Riding Hood; the Junior Choir have sung at the Hilton and the Christmas Concert…. and of course we’ve had plenty of time to make new friends and we’ve worked, worked, worked!!
Have a wonderful Christmas holiday, a happy new year and I’ll see you all in 2009!
This morning’s assembly, which will be led by Miss Dillon, is an opportunity to share the work each year group has been doing based on our SEAL theme of Getting on and falling out.
Last Upper Junior achievement and celebration assembly will be on Friday at 08.50. Please remember school closes at 12.00 on this day.
The Upper Juniors will be celebrating the festive season with year group parties tomorrow afternoon. Please remember to bring in your food for the parties which we will share at the end of the day. School dinners and packed lunch will be eaten at the normal time.
What a wonderful evening was had by all at our Christmas Concert last night. We were entertained by several choirs: the Junior Choir, The Senior Group Choir, The Senior Choir and the newly formed Staff Choir. The School Band performed as did solo pianists, Yuki, Tina and Ellie. Well done to all and a special thanks to Miss Kennedy and Mrs Cowie.
Please remember all Spring Term Extra Curricular Request Forms should be handed to me this morning please!

It’s the last week before the Christmas holiday and there’s still so much to do! I for one haven’t done my Christmas shopping or anything! Tonight at 19.00 we have our Christmas Concert which should get us all in the spirit of things. Thursday afternoon we will have our Christmas parties and don’t forget school closes at 12.00 on Friday! How will you and your family be spending the holiday?
Before I forget, please remember to bring in your Spring Term club reply slips to me by tomorrow! Thanks.
A fantastic performance last night was put on by Year 4, their interpretation of Roald Dahl’s version of Little Red Riding Hood was truly magnificent and provided an excellent evening’s entertainment. Two bloggers have commented on the performance so far….. come on we have had two audiences of over 100 each show…add a comment and let us read your review of the show!
Last show tonight at 19.00. Hope to see you all there!
What a magnificent dress rehearsal Year 4 gave us yesterday. The audience of brothers and sisters and Year 5 and 6 were well entertained and thoroughly enjoyed the adapted version of this famous traditional tale. The show went on despite a few characters being sick and our pianist, Miss Kennedy, had also been sent home unwell! Undeterred the children were true professionals and for those of you who have not yet seen the performance, I can assure you that you’re in for a real treat. Show starts tonight at 19.00.
Blog your comments to let us know what YOU thought of the show.
Year 4 have their dress rehearsal of Little Red Riding Hood this afternoon at 14.15 to an audience of Year 5 and Year 6. Their performances will be on Wednesday and Thursday evenings this week starting at 19.00.
Hope to see you there!
After the Sinterklaas festivities on Friday we are now focusing on counting down to Christmas. We have a busy week ahead with Year 4’s production of Little Red Riding Hood. Good luck to all involved.
Spring term extra curricular activities will be announced later this week, so please watch the bookbags for the booklet. Clubs will then be able to start the first week back after the holiday.
It’s the end of a busy week here at the Upper Juniors. We have an earlier than usual Achievement Assembly this morning at 08.50 and fingers crossed for Sinterklaas celebrations to start about 09.30.
Remember school closes today at 12.00 and so no packed lunch is necessary. Enjoy Sinterklaas and join in the songs posted by Miss Oosterhuis on the Dutch weblog.
We start the day today with Mrs Osborne’s class assembly and end the day singing Sinterklaas songs and crossing our fingers for someone to notice how good we are at the Upper Juniors! I’m sure we’ll have a fun-packed day between these events and look forward to a special morning on Friday!
