Class 3Rs Weblog

What did you learn this week?

Hello 3R…another week almost over - phew! This week has been very busy as usual but we have enjoyed some calm moments too, with a little classical music playing in the classroom while you work. We have reminded ourselves all about 2D and 3D shapes..now we know what a net is (no - not a fishing net! Test your parents and see if they know too!). We know all about faces, edges and vertices and we have also found out all the different nets that make a cube.

We are making zig-zag books about fairy tales and we can name all the features that make a fary tale too. What is your favourite fairy tale?

All this AND the weather too - who knows what the Beaufort scale is? what is happening when the wind symbol says 3? Can you remember? What number will be on the wind symbol if the wind is blowing at 4o KM/hour? Look out on the Year Three blog this next week for some more questions about the weather.

Of course the rest of the time you have been working so hard on our play Scheherazade, it’s really beginning to come together now. Tickets will be going out tomorrow…only one more week to go!

This week

Although we are busy rehearsing our play for some part of each day, we are also busy with our Geography topic ‘Weather Around the World’. We have a new display up in the classroom called ‘Climatic Zones’ which shows all the different types of climates in the world. Your artistic impressions of these look great! Yesterday we looked at the weather forecast for six major cities in all the continents around the world. Have a look on this link and choose some other cities to research…

Almost holiday time…

Hello 3R, pleased to hear so many of you are reading the blog - how about a few more comments please? By now you will all know that our play is called Scheherazade. We will be hearing some of her 1001 tales of the Arabian nights (thank you to Thomas and Alex for bringing in their books to school). You are all doing very well with learning the songs, which is your favourite so far? Leave a comment and let me know.

We should all be able to finish our photograph frames this week, don’t forget to bring in a photograph from home to put in the frame (or a picture printed from the computer).

Year Three play

The next few weeks are going to be really exciting in Year Three…it’s THAT time of year…..no not SAT’S again…..yes that’s right…it’s the Year Three PLAY!!!

The teachers are all looking through scripts and listening to songs and we’ve almost decided which play we like the best and which looks the most fun. We have to do a bit of re-writing (to add in a few extra parts) but very soon we will be able to tell you what the play is called. There will be something for everyone and you’ll all get a part. The play will be in the week beginning 10th March so make sure you’re here for that!

Hello Bloggers!

There are some very polite children in Class 3R and RESPECT week has really given us all a chance to show our manners. We unwrapped our parcel of politeness on Monday and found it full of useful lessons to learn. Can you remember each statement beginning with the letters of the word?

Counting down…

Only nine and a half more school days to go before Christmas, but so much still to do! We have to brush up on multiplication and division, not to mention fractions, AND we still have to print your wrapping paper in Art. There are a few loose ends to tie up in Geography and one more experiment in Science and then….we can relax a little and have some fun…..don’t forget the Year Three Christmas party…which games would you like to play? You can bring in a CD and nominate your favourite track and we’ll play them all!
