Class 3Rs Weblog

Who’s who in 3R?

Hello everyone and welcome to the class3R blog. Our first week in 3R was great fun and we all know each other’s names now! Have a look at all the photographs on our classroom wall and see if you can remember who’s who.

Our Science topic this term is Teeth and Healthy Eating, very apt for this week which is ‘healthy eating week’! Leave your snacks at home because every day willl see a different healthy snack provided by school, I can’t wait!

Rhythm and Recording

As part of our I.C.T. and Music work the children in Year 3 have been busy recording sounds. Using microphones and ‘Sound Recorder’ we recorded and edited sounds. We built up a collection of short sounds to use. The short sounds were then put into ‘CheckBeat’ - some rhythm software.

We made a short repeating pattern and recorded that pattern playing.

Here are our results. What do you think?

Almost time to say goodbye…

It’s that time of year when we start to say goodbye to each other and think about where we are going next. For most of you it will be the Upper Juniors but for Leo, Ella, Ana and Annabel it will be a new school in a new country. We will miss you and I hope you all keep in touch through this weblog. Good luck in your new schools!

I can’t believe it!

Already one week has passed and there are only six more to go! We have lots of work and fun stuff to get through in that time. Quite soon it will be our visit to the botanical gardens in Amsterdam, have a sneaky peek at the website to see what is in store.

NO MORE SATs!

Well done 3R, SATs are out of the way and you all did very well. Now we need to get on to the important stuff! In the coming week we will be making your sculptures and learning some Egyptian dance. We will also make shadow puppets to finish off our Science topic on Light and Shadows. So it sounds like a fun week…

A class full of authors!

You superstars class 3R! We have some fabulous superhero stories coming along nicely, you have very vivid imaginations! I wonder if  you’ll all be authors one day? As soon as they are all finished I’ll post them on this weblog and everyone can read them (then you really will be published authors). Well done everyone.

The summer’s here!

Well almost..the summer term at least! check out the Year Three weblog to see what in the curriculum for this term. The most exciting thing is the Egyptian topic has begun and this week we will be going to the museum in Leiden to see mummies. We will be seeing lots of other things too but real mummies from thousands of years ago seem to be the thing that children look forward to most. Write a comment and tell me what you are enjoying about our new topic and what you are looking forward to.

Nearly there…

Well done 3R, we’re nearly there! One more performance tonight and then we’re onto some new things, I’ll tell you more on Thursday (when I’ve had a little think!). We’ll have a quiet day today, a little drawing and writing and some gentle music playing. Don’t forget to remind your mums it’s early collection day (2.30pm).
