I’ve got Rhythm, I’ve got Music

July 3rd, 2008

In our ICT lessons we have been using Sound Recorder in Windows and a free piece of software called CHECKBEAT 2.

Checkbeat allows you to make rhythms of 16 beats. (Kind of like annoying Ringtones!)

We recorded short sounds - such as animal noises or phoneme patters to make these patterns.
They are quite large files, so I will only put a few on here - the rest will be on CD for exhibition (with headphones perhaps!)

Funny Song - Oscar

Silly Silly Song - Sofia

Check Beat Song 4 - Rahul

BooHupOopsShoo - Isabel

Sound with a beat - Ashling

2nd Record Song - Kirollas

Please remember that these sounds and the patterns created belong to the children who made them!
We have some great results with simple software - I think we could have the next Björk somewhere!

Which one do you like?

The sounds are funny, because the words are funny.

I think those three you chose Mr Chapman were really good. I think it is a a good idea to chose them because it think they sound like a real pieces of rhythm. good idea .

    Dear Mr Chapman,
I really enjoyed making the sounds and rhythms on checkbeat and recording them on soundrecorder!
    I found it very fun!

I’m glad you liked making these sounds and pieces of music, Isabel.

This REALLY IS the first steps in making music when some people make music. They make a “loop” of sounds so that it has a good rhythm. They join these rhythms together to make longer pieces for their music.

Of course, people do play instruments as well and sometimes they record the sounds of those too.

I’ve enjoyed the lessons too - even if it has been a bit noisy at times :-)

That work in ICT was really fun!!
Me and Helena were partners and we made one together and I was listening on the headphones and Helena accidently turned the volume up too loud and I was nearly deafend!

I liked Zara’s and Rahul’s. I thought Rahul’s beat was slower than some of the others and I liked that.

Great Idea Mr C- nice to be technical and creative together!

I think the one of Ashling was very good!
