Spectacular Science

July 11th, 2008

In our Science work about plants we have been experimenting on white flowers.  We were trying to show that the stem carried water around the plants.  What can you say about these flowers and leaves?

I’ve got Rhythm, I’ve got Music

July 3rd, 2008

In our ICT lessons we have been using Sound Recorder in Windows and a free piece of software called CHECKBEAT 2.

Checkbeat allows you to make rhythms of 16 beats. (Kind of like annoying Ringtones!)

We recorded short sounds - such as animal noises or phoneme patters to make these patterns.
They are quite large files, so I will only put a few on here - the rest will be on CD for exhibition (with headphones perhaps!)

Please remember that these sounds and the patterns created belong to the children who made them!
We have some great results with simple software - I think we could have the next Björk somewhere!

Half Bottles and Sugar Lumps

June 26th, 2008

Just a quick reminder,

For our science topic - You need a small water bottle or other transparent container. This is to transplant our bean seeds when they are too big for the propagator in the classroom.

Also, Sugar lumps for making pyramids on Tuesday afternoon.

Bean Power!

June 25th, 2008

Helena\'s Bean

After less than a day Helena’s bean has started to show signs of life.  We took dried broad beans.  We soaked them in water first, then have laid them on a bed of wet cotton wool.

Science Filming

June 23rd, 2008

We have been busy thinking today about our Science work this year.  We are thinking about how we can show what we have learnt this year in Science lessons.  Remember to think carefully about the different ideas and how they will look on screen!

Hortus Botanicus FANTASTICUS

June 20th, 2008

Well,

I had a great time on my visit to Hortus today - despite the butterflies but my group have promised to keep that a secret!
Here are some photos of some of the AMAZING plants we’ve seen!
