We still have a considerable number of mangoes , if anyone has some bright ideas as to how else we can shift them, all ideas will be gratefully received! Please blog your comments or send me an Email. Have a mango filled weekend!

What a start Year 4 have made to designing, drawing and even starting to cut the tiles and start laying their 4 mosaic panels! I was at the Upper School all day yesterday, but when I got home Kat (Mrs Hall) showed me the photos of everyone making initial designs and even scaling these up to draw the outline on the wooden panels… we were both amazed as usually an adult has to do this scaling up part of the design, but Kat was confident Year 4 were up to the challenge of doing it themselves. Kat also told me how impressed she was at children being able to cut the mosaic tiles with such confidence and precision. Well done on a wonderful start to you all! I hear you are finishing off the main designs today and discussing colours to start work on the backgrounds. I’ll try to pop over at some point today to see you all. Have fun and be creative!!

Year 4 are focusing on being creative over the next few days and will be producing 4 mosaic panels which will be displayed at the new Upper Junior School in September. I hope that you’ve remembered to research the themes of each panel over the weekend…remember the 4 themes are dove, reptile, sun and fish. Year 4 will start the day working on these designs and transferring them into mosaics. Year 3, you will be working on the same themes but producing batik panels. Start getting your ideas together and let’s all have a great creative week.

I’m looking forward to our Prize Day Ceremony this evening at the Hilton Hotel. I’ve not heard our Junior School choir sing so far this term, so this will be a real highlight of the evening. Choir members and prize winners should all remember to wear school uniform. Prize winners will be photographed so look your best….it’s something you’ll remember for a long time. Olympic swimmer Duncan Goodhew will be visiting the Junior School this morning to talk to us all….I wonder if there are any children here at the Junior School who will grow up and be an olympic athlete? I wonder which country they will represent?

Next week Year 3 and 4 will be involved in some art workshops throughout the week with Katrin Hall who is visiting us from the UK. Year 4 will be making 4 mosaic panels and Year 3 will be creating 4 batik hangings. The mosaics and batiks will be on display at the end of year exhibition before they move to their permanent home in our new Upper Junior building.

What fantastic weather it was this weekend? What did you do?  I managed to avoid temptation to go out and enjoy the weather yesterday and stay in to do my MA study…. I say do my MA study which in reality was watching TV, sleeping, watching TV, eating, sleeping, watching TV, phoning friends, sleeping, eating….. (well you get the picture!!!!). Hope you had a more productive weekend than me! Look forward to reading how much more active you all are than this couch potato!!

heart.gifWell done to all the Avondvierdaagse walkers who have completed the daily 5km and 10km walks. It was great that many of the children (and parents) completed the walk together as the 10km group managed to catch up and join some of the 5km walkers! Medal ceremony will take place in assembly today at 11.50, if Year 4 are back from their trip to the Anne Frank Huis. (If they are not back the assembly will be rescheduled until next week). I didn’t take any photos myself, but can I please ask those parents who did to Email me some photos of the walkers to post on the blog. Thank you.

I have really got the walking bug now as unfortunately I lost my bike key somewhere on the walk and walked home from school last night and back to school this morning! Apologises to Miss Edghill who had to do the same as I’d locked my bike safely to hers!! Oops!!!

Phew! another hot Avondvierdaagse walk last night and congratulations to all who have now completed half the walks…. I say walks, but seeing as the 10km group came in just about 15  minutes after the 5km group, they must have been running! A fast pace set by Clement’s mum (thanks, An) and Miss Edghill and me were left playing tag with the 10km ’sprinters!’ A record time to finish…. Well done to everyone.

camera.gifJust a reminder that if you’d like to order a copy of the Year Group photographs, please fill in an order envelope including payment and give to Mrs van Schooneveld by Friday at the latest.

Morning bloggers,

brown_shoes.gifFirstly congratulations to last night’s Avondvierdaagse walkers. It was a hot one and the directions were at times confusing but we all made it back to the finish before the rain - though I was unfortunately caught out in the rain on the way home! Same time, same place tonight and we will be walking a different route. Thank you to the parents (and Julian’s dog) who walked with us last night and thanks to Miss Williamson and Miss Edghill who have offered to help tonight.

It’s that time of year when I am thinking about renewing magazine subscriptions for the library. I’ve just heard that the DK FindOut magazine is sadly not going to be printed anymore. What else should I order? Which magazines do you enjoy reading in the library? Are there any magazines you’d like me to order that we don’t have in the library? Which magazines would you like me to order for the new library for Year 4, 5 and 6? Blog a comment and let me know.
